Marco Simonis, Clifford Chance
Marco Simonis has been working as a lawyer and tax advisor in the Frankfurt office of Clifford Chance since February 2002 and has been a partner since May 2008. After completing his state examination in Trier, he studied abroad (LL.M.) at the University of Wales (Cardiff).
He specializes in structuring, setting up and providing ongoing advice on investment structures for institutional investors, including pension funds, pension schemes, contractual trust arrangements (CTAs), insurance companies and family offices. He advises on insurance supervisory law aspects of establishing the eligibility of pension funds as security assets, acquisition under the Investment Regulation, treatment under Solvency II, tax structuring, accounting and other legal issues. His advisory practice includes the conception and establishment of investment structures in the areas of securities investments, real estate, loans and mezzanines, infrastructure, private equity, as well as alternative forms of participation, for example via bonds or participation certificates.
