Damien Gardes is Co-Head of Debt Investments and co-leads the management of hybrid debt funds for Schroders Capital. He started his career in the investment department of AXA and helped launch the infrastructure investment platform of AXA Group. He was then part of the AXA IM team as a fund manager in charge of building the infrastructure debt portfolio for the B/S of AXA. Damien joined Schroders in 2016, and led the execution of a multitude of both senior and sub-IG infrastructure debt transactions. From 2018, Damien gained additional expertise in infrastructure equity investment, building up a portfolio of more than €1bn as an investment director on behalf of Schroders clients. Throughout his infrastructure career, Damien has acted in multi-faceted roles in private infrastructure across project finance, acquisition finance, M&A and investment advisory in the transportation, energy and telecommunication sectors.
