Severin Buchwald, MEAG

Severin Buchwald is a senior expert in sustainable finance at MEAG and the asset manager of Munich Re. He coordinates further development of the overarching ESG strategy and its implementation in guidelines and policies. Additionally, he is responsible for integrating ESG aspects into investments in alternative asset classes and supports due diligence processes as a subject matter expert.


Since 2014, Severin Buchwald has worked at the intersection of the financial sector and sustainability. He has been involved in integrating ESG into insurance, credit, and investment transactions at leading German financial institutions. Furthermore, he gained practical experience at the United Nations and a social venture capital fund.


After completing his studies in Social Sciences at Maastricht University (B.A.) and the Technical University of Munich (M.Sc.), Severin Buchwald worked in Sustainability Services at an international consulting and auditing firm and in the investment function of an institutional investor. Since 2023, he has been a lecturer in the "Certified Sustainability Officer" certification course offered by DVA.
