Bonn, 3.12.2018. Bundesverband Alternative Investments e.V. (BAI), the central advocacy association for the alternative investment industry in Germany, has awarded the BAI Science Award for excellent scientific works in the area of Alternative Investments for the 8th time on November 28, 2018. Awards were given for thesis in four different categories, for which prize money totaling EUR 14,000 was award-ed.
The winners were selected by a panel of experts from practice and science which is independent of the association. The prizes were awarded by Prof. Dr. Mark Mietzner, Zeppelin University Friedrichshafen, who represented the committee at the award ceremony, and Prof. Dr. Rolf Tilmes, board member of BAI, and Frank Dornseifer, managing director of BAI.
In his words of welcome, Prof. Dr. Tilmes emphasized the particular impact of the Science Prize: "The high quality of the submitted works will be an incentive for BAI to continue to host the Science Award on an annual basis. With almost 150 submissions in the last eight years, the BAI Science Award has become a fixture."
The special practical relevance of the work was emphasized by Prof. Dr. Mietzner: "The variety of topics and the high quality of the submitted works clearly shows that the research on alternative investments has firmly established itself as an independent scientific field, which also has a high practical relevance."
BAI Managing Director Frank Dornseifer also mentioned the great importance of promoting science from the perspective of the association: "To promote research work, to combine theory and practice, and to provide a basis for scientific exchange and know-how transfer, also between science and the AI industry and investors, is a central concern of the BAI. We are well on the way here and very proud to once again award outstanding works in the various categories this year."
