The Bundesverband Alternative Investments e.V. (BAI) is the cross-asset and cross-product advocacy association for the Alternative Investments industry in Germany.
Founded 1997 in Bonn, the association's members are resident in any field of the professional Alternative Investments Business. 200 national and international companies are members of the BAI. The members directory can be found here.
Regarding Alternative Investments we advocate for better opportunities of diversification for institutional respectively professional investors’ portfolios. The main focus of BAI’s effort is to ensure the German pension and retirement planning in the long run.
It is our core responsibility to accomplish legal reforms and the development of case law on behalf of our members and their investors.
For that purpose, BAI is contributing to several legislative procedures and consultations on a national and an European level, and is participating as expert in hearings. Discussions with representatives from industry and federal and state government are taking place on a regular basis in Berlin and Brussels. We are maintaining an intense dialogue with political institutions as well as supervisory bodies (BaFin, Bundesbank, ESMA, EIOPA, IOSCO) and work towards a better understanding of our industry's concerns in legal and regulatory practice.
We are keeping our members about developments in the field of AI up to date via Newsletter, Infomails and Circulars.
Conferences and Events
The BAI Alternative Investor Conference (AIC) is taking place in spring and has emerged with about 450 participants to the transregional platform for the exchange on recent developments in the Alternative Investments industry for institutional investors, suppliers and service providers. Furthermore in cooperation with our members, we host the BAI Insight several times a year.
