Matthias Erb (Co-Chairman) has many years of international experience in the asset management and insurance industry, with more than 20 years experience in the Alternative Investments industry. Matthias Erb worked both on the buy side and on the sell side as well as in the structuring area. He is a business economist with a Master in Economics ( University of Zurich) and CFA Charterholder.
Matthias Erb began his professional career in 1993 at Helvetia Versicherung in product management and consulting before taking responsibility for the strategic and operational planning on the marketing side in 1997 at the setup of the first Swiss direct insurer, Zuritel. From 1998 to 2001, Mr. Erb initially worked as an employee and finally as head of global alternative risk transfer business at Zurich Insurance Group in their head office. From 2001 to 2003, he worked for the Zurich Group as Lead Deal Architect and Senior Consultant in Alternative Risk Financing for North American Fortune 2000 companies in New York.
15 years ago, Matthias Erb joined the partnership of Swiss Capital Group to which he still belongs. As a member of the Executive Board, he initially headed the Client Solutions team for tailor-made solutions in the private markets sector with focus on private debt and hedge fund investments. In recent years, he has increasingly turned to the institutional customer base, especially in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. With the incorporation of Swiss Capital Group into StepStone Global at the beginning of 2017, Mr Erb's role as a partner also focuses on holistic investment concepts in Private Markets, which include Private Debt, Liquid Alternatives, Private Equity, Infrastructure and Real Estate. StepStone Global manages more than USD 230 billion in these areas (AuM and AuA). He is also responsible for insurance practice within the Group.
Mr. Erb is responsible for the departments alternative markets and investors advisory board.
